Overlooking Donner Lake, this down-to-earth lodge is a mile from Donner Memorial State Park and 9 miles from Castle Peak in the Tahoe National Forest. The wood-paneled, rustic-chic rooms feature free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs, along with microwaves, minifridges and coffeemakers. Upgraded rooms add furnished, lake-view balconies. Airy suites have kitchens, dining tables, and living rooms with pull-out sofas and gas fireplaces. A 2-story, lakefront townhouse offers bunk beds. Amenities include a lake-view hot tub, a boat dock and a loaner rowboat. There's also a BBQ area and a 5,000 sq ft redwood deck. Minimum-stay rules may apply.
