Summer is here, School is out, and you’re
Trying to decide the Perfect Place to Take your Family to for a Day in the Sun with lots of Fun? Well, look no more! The main fundraising event for C.S.O.T.F.A
District 6
“California state old time fiddlers association.” Have planned a day of Fun, great bands, beautiful views, Food, local wines and craft beers. Something that the whole family can come and Enjoy together, Smiles, Laughter and Making Memories that Last!

This Festival event will be the Third Annual Bluegrass, Old Time & Americana Music & Art Event venue will be held at the Cedar Crest Vineyards in Manton CA. This is a day full of great bands, beautiful views, great food, local wines and craft beers; this family fun event is guaranteed to be about 10 degrees cooler than anything that is going on down in the valley. Come and enjoy the fun and help us support Old Time, Old Time Fiddling, Bluegrass and Traditional American Acoustic Music & Education in the North State.

*Band Line-up for the Day will be as follows*

*Wood & Wire: “It’s been five years now since Wood & Wire sprouted out of the fertile musical soil of Austin, Texas. In that time, they’ve written music, recorded albums, and performed at some of the most notable festivals and venues across the country.
In the often tightly defined genre of bluegrass music, Wood & Wire’s “band-style” ethos are not a mystery. Nor are the elements of song crafting, so often associated with their Texas home, that permeates their sound. That being said, what comes out of the Wood & Wire blender is something entirely its own.”

*One Button Suit:
One Button Suit is an exciting, Sacramento-based string band with a repertoire of originals and bluegrass familiars hinting at unconventionality.

Band members:
Tim Tobias – vocals, guitar
Tom Shewmake – mandolin, vocals
Melissa Lincoln – fiddle, vocals
Brian Burke – guitar, vocals
Casey Lipka – bass, vocals

*The Rock Ridge Bluegrass Band*
Rock Ridge is a bluegrass band from N. California. Their performances and recorded material include traditional & contemporary bluegrass, some originals, old time country, and gospel music with top notch vocals and instrumentation. The band’s debut CD, Drifter’s Prayer, has received praise and airplay across the US and abroad.

*The Buckhorn Mountain Stompers*
Foot stomping dance music from the Klamath Mountains.
The Buckhorn Mountain Stompers are an energetic dance band from the Klamath Mountains who pull from a variety of traditions, like alt-country, old-timey, polka, jazz, delta blues, – but maintain a unique sound of their own. Our goal is to perform fun dance songs that make people want to get up and strut their stuff. Our shows are hillbilly kitsch; with a disco light, fog machine, other theatric stage props and dance prizes.

*Honeybee jazz*
Sweet Violin and Guitar Jazz from the 1920’s & 30’s
Jazz music was born in America between world wars, an economic boom and a great depression, as an amalgamation of traditional American musical styles. The honeybee is a Northern California jazz duo that captures the sounds and feel of Vintage Jazz in its original vibe – with emphasis on lyrical melody, dynamic harmony, and smooth rhythm using sweet vocals, violin and guitar. Honeybee performs Vintage Jazz tunes in that authentic vintage style – the song is the star!

*The HappBees*
The “Sweethearts of the SMMAF” The HappBees will be back to steal your hearts away this year. These three little Dolls are sure to Pull at your Heartstrings as they play on their fiddles!

*Also Appearing:

*Honeybee Jazz

What is The History of Mongolian BBQ?
In the Thirteenth Century, the great warrior Genghis Khan and his soldiers from the grassed plateau of Mongolia conquered many countries from China to Hungary. They established one of the greatest empires the World had ever known. Legend has it that after a long day of hunting, Genghis
Khan and his Mongolian warriors would make camp and prepare lavish feasts. Using their swords, the warriors would prepare slivers of meats, combined with whatever vegetables and spices on hand. They would grill them on their upturned shields over a blazing fire. This type of cooking has become known the world over as Mongolian BBQ. With this tradition in mind, Kahunas Mongolian BBQ brings you the ULTIMATE MONGOLIAN BBQ!

Redding was missing a Mongolian BBQ at the time, and the Oller Family wanted to open one with an American Style. On April 06, 2014 Kahunas had their Grand Opening! Friendly Service, Relaxing Atmosphere and with a vast variety of homemade sauces and fresh vegetables, noodles, and rice.
Kahunas always promotes education and healthy eating and proud to offer all College Students that bring their ASB card in at dinner time a $2.00 off discount on their entree.

World Famous Radio Zoo Show coming to Woody’s Brewery

CHRIS MIKE & THE ZOO SHOW

With humble beginnings, starting each morning before the sun rose into the sky – in a little, vermin infested, old, rickety building, tucked away on Main Street in Woodland, California – Chris Collins, along with his partner, Mike Reynolds, created entertainment and radio magic.  From this shoe-box of a studio, sitting atop a bank, next-door to the neighborhood watering hole, Collins and Reynolds molded a high-schooler, a local barfly, the over-night FM 102 jock, an auto part salesmen, and rounding out this motley crew – the only woman on the show – a voice talent from LA; into one of the most popular and dynamic morning radio shows to ever hit the Northern California air-waves.themorning-zoo

The public was totally caught unaware as, Chris Collins, the Ringmaster of this band of Zoo critters, pulled crank bits and played pranks on their unsuspecting public. Much beloved bits like: Toss Your Boss and Burn Your Buns, became the bread and butter that had their audience eating out of their hands and craving for more. And Collins and Reynolds delivered them more; by bringing in star guests, like Richard Simmons, or musical legends, such as the Jackson Five – into the homes and lives of their avid listeners.

The Morning Zoo reigned supreme from 1983 until 1992. A host of characters came and went from the studios that started in Woodland and ended up near the fabled – Howe About Arden area of Sacramento. The characters, bits, guests and artists were interchangeable, but the mainstays: Chris Collins and Mike Reynolds stayed and became house-hold names and etched their names into Sacramento Radio history; where they have remained legends to this day.

But their story hasn’t ended; in 2010, Chris Collins and Mike Reynolds, reached out to founding members of the Zoo – Robbie Lipelt and Gary Moore; and also Killer Bee, who joined the madness in 1987; to reunite the Zoo. Helping to bring the reunion together was, Mark McGee, the Program Director of several Chico based radio stations, who lent his support and the studios for the newly formed Chris Mike Zoo show.

Recording began in January of 2010 and has continued to this very day. Through the help of technology, determination, grit, character and insanity – the Chris Mike Zoo show is being heard 24 hours a day, 7 days a week via the Internet or through our free cell phone Apps. The show is a worldwide based Entertainment entity. Our new numbers show a      steady increase of the variety of countries, ethnic groups and races that are becoming loyal Chris Mike Zoo fans. Comedy is universal and laughter is the commodity we deal in.

Woody’s Brewing Company to host Chris Mike Zoo show

Woody’s Brewing Co to host Chris Mike Zoo show

In 1983, Chris Collins, along with partner, Mike Reynolds, and a wacky cast of characters created entertainment and radio magic in Northern California that has now extended to a worldwide audience. The Chris Mike Zoo show has captured the imagination of a world-wide audience due to their insane abilities to take perfectly mundane news stories, from around the globe; throw them in the Zoo blender and serve up an irreverent, and often times, off-colored look – at what goes on in our great, big ball of a planet. If you’re tired of the same-ole, same-ole, drop by for a few laughs, great food and even better Brew at Woody’s Brewery. Chances are you might have a wonderful time, but the Chris Mike Zoo show knows, you’ll bust a rib laughing. Woody’s Brewing Company Presents: 1257 Oregon Street Redding, CA 96001 530-768-1034

Woody’s Brewing CO 5 Stars ★★★★★ Reviews Making Big Brew Waves

Woody’s Brewing Company in Redding California has qualified as one of the top micro breweries in California.  Besides the exceptional craft beer, their food is an absolute winner for the entire family.  Specifically one of their flagship products: tater tots, yep, once you try them you’ll be craving more.

About Woody’s Brewing Co

Woody’s Brewing Co. is a dream of many decades that has finally evolved from a love to consume and brew beer, to all other activities involved with it. We are a brewery that started out with three men’s passion to deliver good beer in a great atmosphere. We are believers of the do it yourself attitude and feel that mantra shines through in our high quality and artfully perfected ales. So… Do it yourself! Because it’s your actions that matter.

Our Head Brewer is Pat Wlodarczyk. Pat has had a vision since he was a young man that he would create award winning beers for people of the masses. He dreamed that someday he would be able to focus solely on brewing beer, which for the past 25 years of his life has been one of his biggest passions. Pat is one of those kinds of people that once you meet them, you are inspired by them. The joy and utmost devotion that he has to perfecting his beers is what people will be amazed about. Pat started brewing on a 1bbl (2 kegs) brewing system that he has been artfully perfecting since installing it in his “Brewhouse” in the year of 2009. Pat is an active member of the “Brewtechs”, which is a local craft brewing group. He has won numerous awards for his brewing styles and has had compliments from world renowned judges and craftsmen throughout the years. Pat knows that his beers will always evolve and he can’t wait to share it with all who accompany Woody’s.

Andrew Wlodarczyk is our Operations Manager. Since Andrew can remember, he always wanted to be a small business owner.  As he grew up, he too had a dream of owning a microbrewery. Just recently (and by recently he means years ago) he found out that his uncle Pat and his father Scott both had dreamed of the same idea for many years as well. Andrew knew that he would need to get a formal education to allow him some type of professional credential. Andrew holds a B.S. degree from California State University of Chico in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management. This degree has taught Andrew every “book theory” and “strategy” about owning your own business but has learned that the real lessons start when you put one foot in front of the next.

Our other equally important member of Woody’s is Scott Wlodarczyk. Scott has been in the beer and wine retail and distribution industry for virtually his whole professional career. He started with Lucky’s Market in Sonoma County at age 20 and learned quickly what working the graveyard shift managing the beer and liquor department was like. He decided to move up the distribution channel and received a job with Budweiser. He has since been working for large distribution companies throughout the West Coast from Budweiser out of Napa, California to Columbia Distributing out of Portland, Oregon, to finally making his way to Redding to become a Key Management Supervisor for the past 15 years at Redding Distributing. Scott has vast amounts of knowledge when it comes to successfully marketing and selling beer. Scott is also a certified beer server Cicerone, which means “the dude knows beer”.

Woodys Brewing CO Beats Peanut Butter On Pancakes

Woodys Brewing CO
Okay, so this has nothing to do with comparing a pancake smothered with peanut butter to one of the Best Of The North State microbreweries, Woodys Brewing Company.  A quick overview of microbreweries first.

California Craft Beer Exploding
Microbrewery growth especially in California has boomed. Who would have thought that out of all the states California is the number one American crafts beer capital with Washington being second and Colorado being third?

As of 2014, there were 3,418 craft brewers in the U.S., an increase of nearly 20% over the year before.  Craft beer production rose 42% last year, and for the first time ever, craft brews accounted for more than 10% of all beer sales in America.   Woodys Brewing CO was in that 3,418.

Why Woodys Brewing Company Beats Peanut Butter On Pancakes?
Had a friend tell me about this place several months ago and was anxious to do a shout out about it especially since I’m a serious foodie guy that loves writing about the food, drink and entertainment industry.  You could say I’m La Cafe News.
When a musician friend from Sacramento and I pulled up we were amazed at all the vehicles parked in front of the establishment.  “This is good a good sign” I said out loud.  When walking in we were greeted with the soothing sound of chatting people.

When seated we noticed how simple and streamline the menu was designed, the video explains this.  Decided to order the Fish & Chips or should say Fish & Tater Tots.  When taking the first bite of the lightly battered fish you knew this was no frozen fish, we’re talking extremely fresh. The crispy freshness was matched with a bite out of the tater tot; I have to say, this by far are the best tater tots I have ever had in my life.  The tots are made from scratch and the outside of the golden brown crunchy skin is garnished with medium fresh garlic, kaboom baby!

Fresh Real Fresh
Scott one of the owners out of three and the hostess explained that everything is made from scratch and the chefs work together to achieve the ultimate foodie experience.  Could go on about the whole foodie experience and ambiance at Woodys Brewing Co but drinking their sampler of micro brews was a real pleasure.  How can you say one was better than the other when they were all good?  I compared my dire straights like playing that Chucky Cheese game beating the gophers over the head as they randomly popped their head up through the holes and you tried to bang them with that bulky soft mallet, which one which one?

Redding Reviews and Best Of The North State will be doing another shout out on this amazing local business in the near future and their vision.  Writing about their vision and goals is another editorial in itself but have to say the residents of Redding CA and NorCal are in for a big surprise.

Until next time, hold the peanut butter on those pancakes!
